This is the fifth location for the Houston-based mini-chain and the first new resto to open in the So7 district since Bayou Jack’s Cajun Grill last November. It’s located at 2421 W. 7th St., next to Barcadia.Executive chef is Stefon Rischel, former exec chef at Sisu Uptown Resorts and Brackets. He also did time working for the Pappas restos.
Max’s is best known for cheffy takes on southern food, especially the fried chicken, which will also be available gluten-free. The menu is two-fold – left side is made up of Max’s Classics, like the fried chicken, oyster nachos, shrimp and grits and a “haute” dog. The right side of the menu will be made up of dishes dreamed up exclusively by Rischel.
You can view both menus, as well as the brunch menu, here.
The restaurant, which will seat 200, will be open for dinner only, except on the weekends, when brunch will be served Saturday and Sunday AND Friday, a bold and unusual move that’ll surely be a hit with those who can exit the office early on Fridays.
